Founded in 1994 by world-renowned neuroscientist and neurosurgeon Michel F. Levesque, M.D. as the Visions of the Brain Foundation, the Foundation for Neural Repair (FNR) initially managed a National Institute of Health grant of $750,000 related to epilepsy research and central nervous system regeneration. Renamed the Foundation for Neural Repair, it sponsors a network of scientists throughout the US and the world.
The FNR brings neuroscientists together to work across specialties in an effort to solve disabling neurological disorders and to further clinical studies that will usher in lasting and meaningful treatments for patients. It investigates cutting-edge therapies related to adult neural stem cells for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries.
The FNR is a research-based foundation that places the patient at the center of all its scientific inquiry. Not content to conduct "research for the sake of research," the FNR's primary focus is to support the development of visionary therapies that can deliver potent and life-changing results to real patients. |
